Born in Clinton, NC, Printz Tone grew up surrounded by creativity. He started drawing cartoons at just five years old before moving on to full portraits by age twelve a skill that helped shape his attention to detail long before he stepped into music. Raised by his mother and grandmother, he spent years singing along to classics like “Moments in Love” and T-Pain’s “I’m Sprung,” unknowingly developing a natural ear for melody. After graduating Clinton High in 2009, he entered the military, where he traveled to Spain, Greece, and Dubai. Those experiences taught him how certain songs become tied to life’s moments. As he put it, “Music is like a timestamp… when the song is good, it takes you back to a certain time.”
His new single “You Got Me” reflects everything he values about music. Inspired by the vibe of warm-weather days, Printz wanted something simple, feel-driven, and fun. “The song was inspired by the summertime and the feel you get from going out and having fun,” he says.
For him, “You Got Me” represents joy the kind of track that makes you want to move without even thinking about it. As he said plainly, “I want my listeners to feel good… it should almost make you want to dance a little.” The song is light, refreshing, and honest just like the artist behind it.
